Educational Testing Services
Educational
Testing Services (ETS) of Princeton, N.J., is a nonprofit corporation, founded
in 1947 by the American Council on Education, The Carnegie Foundation for the
Advancement of Teaching, and the College Entrance Examination Board, and
chartered under the education laws of New York state.
ETS
develops
tests, administers testing programs, conducts research, and provides
instructional, advisory, and consulting services to educational and other users.
In general, ETS provides these services under contract with external sponsoring
boards that set policies and approve plans and procedures for their own
programs. While ETS is probably best known for national admissions
testing programs, it also conducts licensing and certification programs in
occupational and professional areas.
